Why do I forgive?

Having been forgiven by my enemy in turn I forgive other people who had hurt me. Love thy enemy. That is probably the hardest verse from the Bible. It is easy to forgive friends, strangers, and family but it is so difficult to forgive and love your enemy.  It does not mean that you did not learn anything from what happened rather you want history not to repeat itself. It is painful. Both sides had been hurt. I may had been well-meaning but I could had been mean and bullied the enemy. Bygones. Forget about it, like I always say. I have to live my life now. And, I do love my life. Move forward and on with the journey...…. May you be inspired by the Holy Spirit and God Bless! -Bob photo credit: symphony of love Haemin Sunim Forgive them. Patrick Lindsay: Rewrite (James Comments...)

ALWAYS CONSIDER your first attempt a draft, whether it's a speech, a letter, a presentation, or a novel. Even the greatest authors and orators take this view. They lay down their thoughts in their initial work. They rethink, refine, and polish. It's like focusing your lens until your subject is sharp. --- The first draft of anything is excrement. Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) --- In website development, we call it customization. When the new theme is applied there may be some glitches. The font color may need to be changed. The gadgets may need to be transferred to the main blog. The gadgets may need to be reordered at the sidebar. The gadget may need to be adjusted; the snippet may be removed, the number of posts may need to be increased. The images may need to be shrunk to fit the space exactly. A few gadgets may need to be deleted. While doing these experiments the readers online may be thinking what is happening to the website? Then, when you are finished t

Patrick Lindsay: Never Give In (James Comments...)

PERSISTENCE OFTEN pays unexpected dividends. By staying the course you open up possibilities. You ask rewarding questions of yourself … and the challenges you face. You find unexplored paths. And you reveal your inner strength. --- It is not enough that we do our best; sometimes we must do what is required. Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965) --- James Comments Rest if you must but do not quit one author wrote to encourage people. Yes, life is difficult wrote another writer, but life is wonderful from the title of the classic Christmas movie where the lead character, George Bailey realized that nobody is a failure when you are surrounded by family and friends. Keep going. Keep walking. Bear in mind that it is a responsibility. While you breathe there is hope. Live like you are going to live forever. There are a plethora of great things that you can achieve. Ask God for strength. Then, when you are weak you become strong. God's Loving Grace is enough for you. God will

Patrick Lindsay: Share Your Smile (James Comments...)

IT RADIATES light. It reflects your inner warmth. It exudes confidence. It eases tensions. It opens doors. It's contagious. --- Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. J.M. Barrie (1860-1937) --- James Comments You smile because you are happy. There are myriad reasons why you are happy. Being alive, being grateful, answered prayers, good health, good job, great family, and friends. You could be happy just because it's a bright sunny day or a cool drizzling day. Even at night just looking at the stars you are happy already. The smile on your face is the joy that comes from your heart, mind, and soul. Sharing it makes it all the more heavenly. -Bob photo credit: illusionbreak Nikki via photopin (license) License: (license)

Patrick Lindsay: You Are Your Competition (James Comments...)

DO'NT BE distracted by judging yourself against others. Set your own standards. Ju dge yourself against those standards. Do it honestly and without delusion. Accept your verdict and move on. --- I am the master of my fate, I am the Captain of my soul. William Ernest Henley (1849-1903), "INVICTUS" --- James Comments If I am not going to open the book and read it page by page then, nothing will happen. I will not learn anything. I choose what path I would want to take in my own life. I need to be prepared and ready. However, my master is God. The Captain of my soul is God too. I walk with Him. He is my Companion, my Guide, and my Refuge. With Him, I can do anything. He can move mountains. The Alpha and the Omega. Without Him I am nothing. Patrick Lindsay: Seek the Truth (James Comments...)

IT'S OUR brightest beacon. It lights a clear path. It illuminates the goal. It exposes the obstacles and deceptions. It simplifies life. --- Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest. Mark Twain Samuel Langhorne Clemens (1835-1910) --- James Comments Jesus is The Way. The Truth, and The Life. May you be inspired by the Holy Spirit and God Bless! -Bob photo credit: Lawrence OP The Holy One of God via photopin (license) License: (license)

Ascension Presents | When You Don't Feel Like It

Ascension Press  and  Ascension Presents   in collaboration with  Inspires   give you this riveting magnum opus.‎.. Condensed Reflection by James Z. Carpio Again, I asked myself why am I doing this? What is my motivation for continuously doing this? First, in one of my darkest days one video of Father Mike helped me pull through and see the bright side of life. How amazing is that? Now, I am doing it for the readers. The videos of Father Mike may help others as well. Simple, nothing more and nothing less. Furthermore, the focus is on Father Mike and not me. And, I'm sure Father Mike would say the focus is on God and not him. May you be inspired by the Holy Spirit and God Bless!

Patrick Lindsay: Add Value (James Comments...)

ALWAYS STRIVE to leave things better than you found them. Make this a central theme in your approach to life. It will set you apart from those satisfied with the status quo; from those who surf along with the crowd and from those who lack the imagination to aim for greatness. --- How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world. Anne Frank (1929-1945) --- James Comments As a bicycle owner whenever I see a bicycle that slipped off the steel cylindrical parking post, I fix it right away. It is simple. And, the least that I could do. -Bob photo credit: Walimai.photo No Parking But Happy (136/365) via photopin (license) License: (license)

The Missionaries of the Poor and The Maronites

It is a good facility. The whole surroundings are dotted with greeneries. And, it is clean almost sterile to a point. I would say it is better than some Government Facilities. Most importantly, the patients both adults and children are well looked after by the medical staff and personnel. The resident management is the Missionaries of the Poor. The Missionaries of the Poor are based in Jamaica. And the missionaries come from different parts of the globe. Last January, they had help from a twenty-people-team from Sydney, Australia: The Maronites. They stayed for a two-week-mission. I interviewed the leader of the team, George Nasr. He told me about their noble cause. The Charity Mission was founded in 2012 by eight people and it more than doubled as of the present. The volunteers are estimated to be about five hundred people.  It is a privately funded pursuit and a non-profit organization. They have missions in Lebanon, Iraq, India, The Philippines, and in their h

Patrick Lindsay: Build the Foundations (James Comments...)

TOO OFTEN we jump in before we do any homework. We start projects or make commitments-without mastering the essentials or doing basic research; without assessing risks or gathering necessary tools. Take the time to build a solid base. It will save lots of heartache. --- The loftier the building, the deeper must the foundation be laid. Thomas à Kempis (CA 1380-1471) --- James Comments In our field Plagiarism is our utmost concern. We do not want lawsuits. It could be the downfall of any writer. Written English should be mastered. From grammar, to syntax, to spelling, to context, to style, to everything, they must me solid. Research is key and practice makes easy reading. Facts must be correct. Essentially, we have to make it enjoyable for the reader. Something with meaningful underlying tones that would linger on in their mind for the rest of their life. It will tug at our heartstrings when someone says to us, I learned a lesson from you that inspired me and changed my

Patrick Lindsay: Look for Depth (James Comments...)

OUR WORLD pushes us toward shallowness. All width and no depth. Driven by the fear of missing out, we're constantly plugged in to our devices at the expense of real relationships and passions. Make the technology work for you: find your passions and explore them. --- Passion is universal humanity. Without it religion, history, romance and art would be useless. Honoré de Balzac (1799-1850) --- James Comments The writer's club is dwindling. It took forever for me to truly and deeply love my passion for the art of writing. It was a love and hate relationship. My family's support is tremendous. The encouragement is enormous. How could I not succeed? They have my back and they love me to the moon and back. My mentor was my brother priest. I learned from the best. Amuse me or humour me he would always challenge me. He never edited my pieces. He believed in me so much that it was enough for me to pull through, to keep on going and pursuing my passion. He died a few

Paradigm of the Old Ways?

Before Christianity, people believed in the old ways. Superstitions. Beliefs in inanimate objects, the unseen, and the arrangement of things or anything in the universe. An example would be a horse shoe is lucky or a broken thing is unlucky.  It may be cultural. In the field of sociology, total immersion is needed to understand a tribe or a community. Rational and logical thinking makes your strategies solid. Medicine, Science, Modern Technology, and Computer Technology contributed to the recent renaissance in the world. Spiritually speaking, why put your faith in those things when you can place your faith in Lord Jesus Christ? Personally, I can vouch for the many miracles in my life that I attribute to the many answered prayers. Jesus is Pure Light. He will cast all your fears or shadows in your life in bright illumination.  In the final analysis, God created us and He will be the one to take our last breath. However, you may have your own opinion and I do have mine.

Bully: Why evil exists in the world...

You do not have to fight with a bully at all just ignore and walk away. Displace him or her with a walk in the park. Do not let them have power over you. Mind your own business and focus on your own life. After the bullying all they do is be lost in their own thoughts, sleep and do same the following day. So, Make the rental space in your mind really high end. Better yet put a no vacancy sign and bullies will be shot by the Police metaphorically. You do not have to suffer at all. As long as you did nothing wrong you are innocent and do not deserve that treatment. Nobody can make you feel less or damage your dignity without your permission. Avoid them like the plague. If you need to do a Forest Gump go ahead and do so and run! Forest, run! Why are they doing those things to you? Elementary really, evil exists in the world. The devil is lurking for a prey. You may have something that they want. The best thing you can do is just say, no! And, when they realize that no matt

Dear Writer

Never give up chasing your dreams foolish as they may seem. You have already gone this far. And, you are still alive. Life is fleeting and we can never be sure what the future will be like for us. Remember that your own late father and mother were writers. A columnist at Naga Times, your father would be proud. And, you know that they already know. Sometimes you feel unsure because what happened in your life is so surreal. Who would have imagined you have been able to become like your father. Yes, there were people who said you could not do it but you have a lot of faith. You have a mother who had a lot of faith. You have a lot of faith in God. Writers are already in the endangered professions list. Many aspire but few are given the gift of writing. Thus, it is a responsibility. You have been writing since high school for the school paper. Now it is 2020. People tell you how blessed you truly are because words just flow like water from the ocean of your mind. Stories: I have b
