ABC STARS Inspires

I remember my Mama when she was alive, she would always tell us... as long as there is a raucous between siblings then there would not be peace among nations. My family is uniquely Eurasian: European- German etc. and Asian- Chinese etc... Well, I am the assigned Officer for the Public Relations of the family corporation which is ABC STARS. However, then again, I would always be the last to know of current events. Moreover, it is funny, I know. Presently, I am busy with the historical archives of the family. Thousands of photos to be restored and transformed into digital copies. It is a daunting assignment. So far, So good. Hence, the legacy continues...

I was named after the Apostle... Saint James, the less, who was a cousin of Our Lord and a brother of the apostle, Jude. He wrote one of the Epistles. He was hurled down from the terrace of the temple and clubbed to death. 'JAIME' I was named after the Martyr... Saint Hermenegild who was the son of the Arian King of the Visigoths in Spain. He was put to death for refusing to receive Holy Communion from the hands of a heretical bishop in 586. And, Abuelo Hermenegildo A. Carpio Senior, of Tabaco, Albay. I had a happy childhood. There was one memorable afternoon that I realized, that God blessed me with the best parents that I needed to have, in order to fulfill my own mission on Earth. One rainy afternoon, my younger brother and I, were taken along with our parents to The Manila Hotel. Then, our father led the way to the restaurant. I still remember the name of that place. Café Ilang Ilang . It was sheer opulence. It was not extravagance though, but, it is the best. Excellence. In one word. It is only now, that I had an awakening as to why our parents treated us for a grand meal at that place. They wanted us to see and experience what the best is, in its grand-full-scale-splendor. It made us aspire. And, the value of excellence became ingrained in our consciousness. It meant that we had to strive to be the best. We saw how the team of employees of the hotel conducted themselves; with utmost dignity, competency, commitment, dedication ...

The Holy Family Carpio assumes top NBI post Carpio was appointed the 10th director of the National Bureau of Investigation. Carpio, 54, was an active human rights lawyer under the Marcos regime, the reason why he was detained when martial law was declared in 1972, and again in 1981, while seeking justice for victims of the Daet Massacre of June 14, 1981. Born on October 25, 1931, in Naga City, he finished his high school at the Camarines Norte High School in 1949 and his pre-law degree, at the Ateneo de Naga in 1951. After completing his second year in law at the University of the Philippines in 1953 as a scholar, he was called to active service into the Armed Forces of the Philippines as a member of the 8th and 10th Battalion Combat Team (BCT). I have 13 siblings. Number 2 and number 6 passed away already. I get along with all of them. In a nutshell, being agreeable is an asset.  I am who I am now because of them.
