Papa's Post: Pange Lingua

Image
(A Caceres Translation) We shall sing out our Saviour's glory! O mystery! O wondrous story! Of Your Eucharistic presence In this sacramental essence! O living Bread! O Fount of graces! Here! For us! In this sacred place! 'Twas foretold that a noble maiden A virgin pure, with graces laden, Would give birth to our Redeemer. Dreamt by every maiden dreamer, It came to pass when Mary bore You! Thus fulfilling God's promise of yore! Then You dwelt among us, Your brothers, Like You, conceived of mortal mothers. You shared our works, our tears, our laughter Teaching us of life hereafter. The Word made flesh! Our Faith renewing! Seeking all to be one with You! The Passover, celebrating The sacrament of Love partaking, You made, of bread and wine, Communion -Your flesh! Your blood! For holy union!- For all ages, from the chosen few, You in us! And we in You! As we kneel down in adoration, To you, in humble consecration, We give our life, our all

Papa's Post: A Song To Ninoy

(Tune-"Yellow Ribbons") You came with love! You came in peace! You came to heal! That bitter strife may cease! To help end all oppression! That we may soon be free! For there can be no concession to injustice or tyranny!                                                To injustice or tyranny!         We tied our yellow ribbons along the old Times lane         It's been three long years of exile and pain!         You should have seen our ribbons on that old oak tree---         "Di ka nag-iisa! Bayan ay mahal ka!"         Who's to blame? But them! You didn't see         Our yellow ribbons around that old oak tree! They had you shot! They had you slain! That greed may rule! And men of evil reign! By force and intimidation, heeding but the tyrant's call! Brazen lies beset the nation seeking to fool us all!                                                 Seeking to fool us all!         See the hundred thousands throng the old Time

Papa's Post: O Divino Rostro

Image
A Centennial Prayer This time, a century ago; A plague was creeping thru the land And yet, in Kabikolan then, In ways one may not understand, Devotion to Your Holy Face Became the key to our salvation. So, we publicly proclaim On this centennial celebration--- Refrain:      We venerate the Holy Face      That St. Veronica unfurled!      Deliver us from evil, Lord!      Have mercy! Saviour of the World! Today, a deadlier plague than then Has swept and paralyzed our nation--- A wanton disregard for life; For justice! By intimidation And institutionalized deceit, Our people groan in subjugation! Winds of hate and wild ambition Blow away reconciliation! Refrain: We turn to You, O Prince of Peace O Cause of genuine liberation! Sustain our hearts and minds and wills That we may end our degradation! That we may once again be free From fear, from want, from desecration Of our dignity as Man! And rise in endless jubilation! Refrain: September

Papa's Post: Mañanita* (A Caceres Version)

-I- How beautiful, the dawning!           As we come to sing to you Of love, so sweetly burning           Ever constant, ever true! This dawn, guitars are tinkling           May God's blessings rain anew Far more than stars oversprinkling,           Fresher than the mountain dew. From out this starry awning           Would that we could gather two One to waken you "Good morning",           With the other bid "Adieu!" Refrain: A newborn day is dawning,           The rays of the sun break thru, Arise early this radiant morning           As we sing "Hello" to you. -II- On the day that you were born           Flowers wafted their perfume, For on that baptismal morn           Life in grace began to bloom, --- A life we learned to scorn           Until there was hardly room For Love in hearts then torn           By despair and certain doom. When weary and forlorn           There is One alone with Whom To share and ease

Papa's Post: Ina Has Returned!

Image
A Song for Ina The year we lost our treasure We wondered why she'd disappear Tho searchers gave full measure Of love in searching far and near! Somehow, today she found us Thru wind and flood; less gilt and chrome! All hail! Her grace surrounds us! She has returned! Ina is home! Refrain: Whatever calling finds us Wherever Bicolanos roam You are the love that binds us Forever one tho far from home! You are reconciliation For pilgrim or Samaritan! You are our exaltation O Mother of Kabikolan! Envoy: VIVA LA VIRGEN! NUESTRA SEÑORA DE PEÑAFRANCIA! ... Papa's Post: The Shepherd's Call

Image
Image courtesy of artur84 at FreeDigitalPhotos.net We have been so tired and weary We have walked for many a mile All the world's so dull and dreary And we long to rest a while. But we hear our Shepherd calling All of us who've gone astray We must act and stop our stalling He's the Truth, the Life, the Way.         Cursillistas one and all         Yes, the "die is cast"         We will follow but His call         We have shorn our past! We renounce the devil's pleasures And we let our voices ring That we seek above all treasures But the love of Christ the King. He is rest for all the weary He is drink for all who thirst All the world's no longer dreary For all those who seek Him first!
