Theodore's Sunday

Image
He left the air-conditioned drugstore with travel medicines. He was new to the city. He wanted to go to nearest beach but the Police Woman she queried about the details was not well-versed. Theodore decided to postpone the trip. As he was walking along the sidewalk at the city center, a young boy carrying his baby brother tapped his forearm. He smiled and took out a new crisp paper bill then handed it to the boy.  Then, he continued walking. After passing the grand Cathedral, he noticed a man sitting on the sidewalk with his bicycle. He halted and asked the man if he were okay. Apparently drunk, the man told him he was just resting. He could not help but laugh because the man was very happy that he asked how he was.  When he bade his farewell, what lingered on his mind was the words of the man. "You are a good friend!" Though both strangers, what resonated in him was a friend in need is a friend indeed. Because Theodore stopped when ot...

Breaking Through with God and Turning Your Life Around

Image
I am sure that you've heard the saying that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Well, let me tell you this there is light within the tunnel. I've read the life story of Mark Ruffalo. What resonated with me is he had every reason to give up with the countless failures in his life but he persevered and succeeded in the end. When you're still alive there is no such thing as a basket case. You just need God. photo credit: Onasill ~ Bill Badzo Brockville Ontario - Canada - Philips Light Show - 365 days a year - Old Railway Tunnel via photopin (license) License: (license)

When in Naga

Image
My laptop clock says it is the first day of September, well, it follows a different Time Zone. When you are a Bicolano, the month of September floods your mind with myriad memories, to say that I am excited is, definitely, an understatement. However, I feel poignant and I cannot fathom why. I feel this sense of urgency or even a sense of an impending loss. It is not that I have been taking the celebration of the Feast of The Our Lady of Peñafrancia for granted, do not get me wrong, but, to be honest, I became more of an observer rather than a participant or for a more apt term, a pilgrim. I had watched the festivities on Television for the most part since my Father and I took that one for the road culmination of the Fiesta at the Basilica. When he told me, “Jim, I want to go home”, I felt that my heart went with that sense of relenting or acceptance that it would be the last. It was his last and I sort of lingered on. When in school, I went with school mates and admi...

Guest Post | Atty. Juan Luis Z. Carpio - In Thanksgiving

Image
In Thanksgiving (August 25, 2018) This is the day the Lord has made! Almost did not make it, got scared. Was it acid reflux, causing chest cramps Last night, giving me the goose bumps? Thirty three years in my life of bonus time Seeking meaning, fulfillment, reason and rhyme. In life with a cervical spine injury in constant pain Rendered frail and weak, and future very uncertain. But on this day even my security deposits are asked of me To the very last, I had to give. Is my God simply crazy? Now that I have nothing, I am open to EVERYTHING! “In weakness, Power reaches perfection!” Worth experiencing. This day is blessed with family and friends who greeted and prayed The Lord gives and takes away, Blessed be the Name of the Lord! Epilogue: “ 'Til the end of my days, O Lord, I will bless your Name. Sing your praise, give You thanks, all my days. ” ...

The Last Photo I Posted on Facebook

T here are only two reasons why I used Facebook. First, to talk to my brother who is based abroad. Second, to talk to my sister who is also abroad. The other one is to promote this website. However, I found out that the content of the website had already been embedded in the Internet. I had actually changed the title of the website to just Inspires but the web still uses the old one. So, I do not really see the point of keeping Facebook.

Kintsugi: Teach me to forgive...

Image
Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden joinery"), also known as Kintsukuroi (金繕い, "golden repair"), is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, a method similar to the maki-e technique. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.  *edited from Wikipedia Well, I guess you came to the right place. I am a living testimony of having forgiven and being forgiven. You lost your faith in humanity? Well, I lost my faith in humanity as well. However, I never lost my Faith in God. You suffered? Well, I suffered but I am not blameless, He suffered and yet He has no sin. You keep isolating yourself from people. You always go the other way. You purposely cut people off of your life.  You built a wall. Well, congratulations, it took courage to do what you have done. I know why you did all those things....

Mister Snow

Image
It's cold there. Freezing. When you speak a mist goes with each word. I'm an old man. I've known for so long. I had been perennially waiting. Because I knew it's worth the wait. To hold on. Because it's pristine there. I'm blessed because I had a glimpse of it. Take my word for it the opposite of it you don't want to go down there. A friend of mine told me it's scorching and pungent there. They hate each other there. But, there, the one I told you about... It's sheer magnificence. It's sheer gladness. It's pure joy. And, it's pure love. I am going there today. And, I hope you could make it there someday as well. My name is Mr. Snow. I am your Guardian Angel. photo credit: Neil.
