Papa's Post: Mañanita* (A Caceres Version)

-I-
How beautiful, the dawning!
As we come to sing to you
Of love, so sweetly burning
          Ever constant, ever true!

This dawn, guitars are tinkling
          May God's blessings rain anew
Far more than stars oversprinkling,
          Fresher than the mountain dew.

From out this starry awning
Would that we could gather two
One to waken you "Good morning",
          With the other bid "Adieu!"

Refrain:
A newborn day is dawning,
The rays of the sun break thru,
Arise early this radiant morning
As we sing "Hello" to you.

-II-
On the day that you were born
          Flowers wafted their perfume,
For on that baptismal morn
Life in grace began to bloom, ---

A life we learned to scorn
          Until there was hardly room
For Love in hearts then torn
          By despair and certain doom.

When weary and forlorn
There is One alone with Whom
To share and ease each thorn
And the pain of life in gloom.
Refrain...

-III-
We asked good old St. Peter
          And the Lord's beloved John,
May all your dreams be sweeter
For the night of sin is gone

Upon God's Milky Way
Shines the good that you have done,
For only yesterday
          He embraced His long-lost son.

With Love as our bouquet
          We awaken you this dawn
And Love is here to stay
So that you may carry on.
Refrain...
