My Grandfather's Birthday (April 13)

Hermenegildo

We share the same name. I was named after you.

You wrote well.

I became a writer.

You liked to walk going to Church. I followed you, but, you walked fast, I trailed behind.

You were in your 80s then.

You walked with a cane.

You rarely spoke. I was shy. I don't recall long conversations with you but I do remember receiving a Birthday Card from you.

It was engineered to perfection. Out of your own creativity.

I was young then. All I could say was, "Wow!"

You were a Civil Engineer.

And the bridge you built still bridges over troubled waters.

Thank you and Happy Birthday! I hope I make you proud...

Love and Prayers,

Jaime Hermenegildo
