A Letter to God

Image
Dear God The Father, I have forgotten how my penmanship looks on paper.  I have rewritten and revised and edited this one like forever.  I am a writer but, literally, I am a typist.  But, thank You, O Lord!, for sometimes I think so fast my handwriting is out of sync and no longer legible.  I wanted to write this letter to You the old-school way by using a pen and, actually, scribbling on paper. I have looked for You everywhere all my life.  Foolish that I am, You were just inside my heart all this time. I have just been given seven minutes to write all that I need to let You know.  Spring will be coming soon.  I have waited for so long, I am, slowly, turning grey and pale. I just heard the announcement.  I have no more time left... Now, I shall go where you want me to be... Although, I shall return for I know my work is not yet done. Sincerely, Your son, James ...

'Pelsae Jmeas you hvae to hlep me...' My friend who had a stroke asked me. I said, 'okay, my friend, no problem. I surmised that you are using an Artificial Intelligence communication device.' 'Taht's crcerot. Tahnk you!' 'Well, that's the problem with machines,' I told her. They are made by humans. But, we are made by God. If ever you want your message conveyed and understood, never, please, ever, hesitate to ask. I will be deconstructing the A.I. gadget's inadequacy, so that, you will be understood. You're most welcome!' photo credit: Christiaan Colen Binary code via photopin (license) License: (license)

Heart is home within

Diego's younger sister, Paloma, whom he had not seen for nine years, six months, and thirteen days, called him the night before he left. The usual conversation ensued but that one abruptly became mysterious. There were a lot of long pauses and echoes. Diego heaved a sigh of relief and just said, "I'm coming home." Paloma was excited, it will be a grand celebration. The weather in Morocco would be specially welcoming the day they will will meet. It is where their older brother, Javier, lives. photo credit: Sharon Graphics PENELOPE CRUZ via photopin (license) License: (license)

His Last Goodbyes

Image
Jeffrey A. Summers looked at his own reflection in the mirror at the foyer of Oregon's upscale hotel. He stared intensely at his eyes. They had finally turned grey like his father's. It was bittersweet. He was exhilarated because he had already accomplished his mission. What he needed to do had been done.  It spread like wildfire the exhaustion and the sheer torture he endured in his life. For more than forty seven years he enjoyed, well, that was how he always dealt with it, being partially blind.   People did not realize that when he said his gratitude to all who crossed paths with him were his 'last goodbyes.' At ninety years old, myriad chances of saying 'thank yous' to all were like the changing of the seasons. His Summer had turned into Autumn. It was poignant. Fallen leaves were scattered on the ground. He walked at the park and he even felt and heard the brown leaves making sound waves like when you crumple paper.  A...

STATE OF THE NATION (August, 2017)

ABRACADABRA… Crystal Ball, Who’s the greatest of them all? In over four hundred days in power, A heap of dead: forming Babel’s tower. The war on drugs shall go on without mercy, While a state of rebellion continues in Marawi. Devastation in the peaceful land of the Maranao; Martial Law proclaimed for the whole of Mindanao. ABRACADABRA… Crystal Ball, Who’s the wisest of them all? The Supreme Court favored the dictatorial decree. The Halls of Congress subservient to President Duterte. Suspected addicts, pushers and other criminals are slain with impunity. Murders encouraged in the ranks in the alleged war against criminality. There is NO MORE due process; only the easy way of slaughter. Police crime easily downgraded to Homicide from blatant Murder. Virtual unknowns to notorious mayors, no one is to be spared. All addicts and pushers who allegedly fought back got what they deserved. No casualty from the police ranks as the warrant was served. While all 15 of th...

The Gates Sequel

Image
He was a little too late. Gary Neutown was locked inside the cemetery. He was not afraid. If at all, if worst comes to worst, he could spend the night at that sacred place. He called out for the gatekeeper. After just thirteen milliseconds, the gatekeeper showed up, greeted him, unlocked the padlock, and opened the iron gates. Sometimes in life it is never too late. He was a little too early. Gary was disappointed that he was not able to visit his sanctuary that day. But, he just smiled. There is always another day. Another chance. Sometimes in life there is nothing wrong with being too early. To be continued... photo credit: campra Peter's Keys via photopin (license) License: (license)
