More than a spark

'Espresso Macchiato for Jacques,' the young lady hollered.

Jacques Rivers sporting a crisp-white-long-sleeves Hugo Boss polo shirt went to the counter and smiled at the barista. He said, 'thanks!' and proceeded back to his seat by the wide panel glass window.

He had been working on deadlines for about two hours already when, suddenly, he saw someone he knew walked in at Starbucks.

A lady dressed in a green dress wearing a Chanel sunglasses went straight to the receiving section.

Jacques was thinking to himself, could it be? He was unsure until the lady removed her pair of shades. And he thought to himself, I'll be darned, if it isn't Alicia. He was amazed. She looks different. Different good. She looks svelte and stunning.

Jacques went to the counter right beside Alicia and whispered, 'hi, there!'

Alicia slightly shifted her head to the left then stared at him. 'Hey, Jacques! What on earth are you doing here?'

'Having coffee...' he chuckled and, 'working,' he added.

'What are you doing here?' Jacques retorted with a wide grin.

Alicia beamed, 'I'm back in town, with my children. I'm divorced now.'

'Oh! I'm sorry to hear that... well, you look happy.' Jacques replied while looking at her intently.

'Well, that's because I am happy, Jacques.' Alicia looked at Jacques, 'you still prowling as usual?' she teased him.

'Why is that?' he looked at her quizzically.

'You still look exactly the way you were back in college.' Alicia was impressed.

Jacques gave a hearty laugh. 'What am I supposed to do? Wallow in self-pity? I am living the dream. But you were the one who left me, remember?'

Then, a long pause.

Their eyes locked. Frozen in time. A little flashback. Then something happened...

More than a spark.
