Condensed Reflection
by James Z. Carpio

Given the scenario: what were you doing five years ago? Right exactly the same moment as now? We are certain that one would not have that exact frozen memory etched in one's mind. However, if that particular situation has a special meaning for that person, then, perhaps, the precision of the memory bank will be easily tested resulting to either sadness or gladness depending on that specific memory retrieved. If during that time an event occurred; e.g. a birthday, an anniversary, a travel or any other wonderful fact of the human experience of the gift of life—simply put, milestones—then, it is indelibly marked in our own calendar of existence.

However, lessons from the past are rooted to our frailties. Our mistakes, misgivings, and sins. These are the ones that need to be addressed in order that they do not haunt us for the rest of our lives. More importantly, they will not hinder our success. Once dealt with, forget about them. Simple. Father Mike even suggests to laugh at ourselves. Do not do it again. Hence, that is cultivating wisdom.

One can never be the same person as one changes in terms of all the factors that happen in that person's life. We all make mistakes. Yes, we have to acknowledge them and as we have learned not to repeat the same blunder we grow wiser and develop our maturity. Essentially, we become productive and responsible adults while keeping God at the center of our lives, always moving forward towards progression and preventing regression.
