Ascension Presents | How to Avoid Being Ungrateful
in collaboration with Inspires
give you this riveting magnum opus...
Condensed Reflection
by James Z. Carpio
The awe-inspiring wonder begins at the moment of conception of an infant in the Mother's womb—The Gift of Life, so fragile—from then on the celebration continues.
As I write these words, and they turn into sentences, transform into paragraphs, and transfigure, metaphorically, into an inspiration to you, the reader. It is another gift.
The noble profession of writing is a talent, an aptitude that is disregarded by many, overlooked by some but treasured by a few.
With God's Grace, we belong to the few, who persistently and dutifully, write. Oftentimes, this is the road less traveled and, ironically, in this beatnik age, our topic is never discussed i.e. "The Catholic Faith" on a grand scale in the Media which is saturated by sensationalism and a world gone awry.
The founder of Inspires, Monsignor Bob, constantly reminded this writer to live my day as if it is my first and my last. Sadly, he came to an untimely end that left everyone in disbelief until now.
Carpe Diem! Moreover, Carpe Noctem!
Spend that precious evening with your family at the dinner table. Exchange banter about stories that transpired during the day. And, absolutely, no phubbing.
The family is a gift. Love them and keep them close to your heart.
"Never ignore someone who cares for you because someday you will realize you have lost a good heart while you were busy collecting cobbles."
Life, profession (your purpose), and family. Those three are your core. And God, your Guiding Light.
Father Mike's poignant reminders, among others, that there are simple gifts that we take for granted. The five senses in particular are not given the gratitude that they deserve until unexpected vicissitudes occur.
Health is never a priority until the knees start to hurt and other myriad pains and aches that we experience at the latter part of our lives.
People without disabilities will never truly be able to walk in the shoes of the people who do have disabilities. No pun intended but some people do not even have legs to begin with, so there is no need for shoes, in reality, they live in torment.
We are all gifted. God gave us gifts, and He gives, unceasingly and abundantly, specially, if we pray and remain true to the faith.
We should like to thank Him. And in the final analysis, use them well lest you lose them.
Ad majorem Dei gloriam.
