Makati: City of Lights

When I was in Kuala Lumpur, there would be chances that I would have conversations with locals and they are all agog about Makati. I felt that it is amazing that they really love that part of Metro Manila. The whole of the business district of Makati is so similar to New York. You would not even think that you are in The Philippines at all.

Back in the day, it used to be where I worked at and enjoyed the cityscape.

The opulence of Makati and the other high end parts of Metro Manila is a stark contrast to what the world media shows about The Philippines. Generally, it is a peaceful metropolis. It goes without saying that you do have to be street smart.

It is also a shopping destination. And it is frenetic 24/7.

That photo is a chapel right at the heart of Makati. One can find solace in that special place. The breeze is soothing not only to the body but, most importantly, to the soul. A park surrounds it and ducks and geese converge to a pond nearby.

Skyscrapers abound and the architecture varies from modern to Zen to Minimalist or even glass covered towers. It is a photographer's paradise. People sometimes only brand The Philippines as a tropical paradise with white sand shorelines and crystal clear blue waters. Makati will surprise you indeed!

It is where East meets West. Diverse with a mix of Asian and European/American looks. It is where the Elite can be found. Brazilian models are flocking to that City. Many Koreans call it their home too.

During the day and night, office workers populate the magnificent buildings. Then, at night time, people relax and enjoy the  City of Lights.
